Two individuals were arrested in Wellawatte on Saturday (16) with a stock of illegal cigarettes valued at more than Rs. 2 million during a joint operation carried out by the Sri Lanka Army Military Intelligence Unit and the Special Task Force (STF).
The raid was conducted by STF officers attached to the Moratuwa Unit following a tip-off from Army Intelligence.
A total of 22,400 illegal cigarettes, estimated to be worth around Rs. 2,016,000, were seized during the operation. (Newswire)
