Police have arrested 322 suspects for transporting narcotics into the Sri Pada area since the commencement of this year’s pilgrimage season.
The Police Media Division stated that the arrests were made during raids conducted by the Hatton, Polpitiya, Ginigathhena and Nallathanniya Police stations in the Hatton Division.
A total of 336 raids had been carried out, while fines amounting to over Rs. 2 million were imposed after the suspects were produced before courts.
Police also recovered a range of prohibited narcotics during the raids, including heroin, crystal methamphetamine (ice), cannabis, hashish, kush, mawa, intoxicating sweets and narcotic pills. (NewsWire)
