Sri Lanka Cricket is set to get a new Selection Committee, replacing the panel appointed during the tenure of former chairman Pramodya Wickramasinghe, according to a recommendation approved by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
A letter dated May 21, 2026, issued by the Ministry states that Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage, acting under provisions of the Sports Law and Extraordinary Gazette regulations, has approved the proposed five-member committee.
The recommended Selection Committee includes former Sri Lanka fast bowler Kapila Wijegunawardena as Chairman, alongside Amal Silva, Brendon Kuruppu, Waruna Waragoda, and Vanessa De Silva as members.
The recommendation was forwarded to the Secretary of the Sri Lanka Cricket Transformation Committee for further action. The move comes amid ongoing structural changes at Sri Lanka Cricket following the appointment of the interim Transformation Committee.
Pramodya Wickramasinghe previously headed the selection panel that was appointed before the latest restructuring process at Sri Lanka Cricket. (Newswire)
