Cathay Pacific has confirmed that one of its flights from Australia to Hong Kong encountered severe turbulence, leaving 10 people with minor injuries.
The incident occurred on Cathay Pacific Flight CX156, operated by an Airbus A350-900, travelling from Brisbane Airport to Hong Kong International Airport.
According to reports, the turbulence struck around two hours before landing while cabin crew were preparing meal service, causing food carts and cabin items to be thrown around the aircraft.
Cathay Pacific said six cabin crew members and four passengers sustained minor injuries during the incident. Eight of those injured were later taken to hospital for precautionary medical checks after the aircraft landed safely in Hong Kong.
Passengers onboard reportedly described the turbulence as sudden and intense, with some comparing the experience to a “free fall”.
The airline confirmed that medical personnel attended the aircraft upon arrival and stated that an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
The aircraft landed safely at Hong Kong International Airport without further incident. (Newswire)
