Colombo inflation increases to 5.5% in May

The overall rate of inflation, as measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI) on a year-on-year basis, has increased to 5.5% in May 2026.

According to the Department of Census and Statistics, the figure is an increase from the 5.4% reported in April this year.

Meanwhile, food inflation has also decreased to 0.9% in May compared to the 2.8% recorded in April. 

However, non-food inflation has reported an increase to 7.8% in May from the 6.8% in April.
