The Atamasthana Committee has decided to temporarily appoint the Chief Sanghanayake of the North Central Province and Chief Incumbent of Ruwanwelisaya, Ven. Eethalawetunuwewe Gnanathilaka Thera, to oversee the duties of the Atamasthanadhipathi position, the Malwathu Maha Viharaya said in a statement today (30).
The Malwathu Maha Viharaya further stated that the decision was taken in view of ongoing court proceedings concerning allegations against Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Thera, Chief Sanghanayake of Nuwara Kalaviya under the Malwathu Chapter and Atamasthanadhipathi. The temporary appointment will remain in effect until the legal process is concluded and a final decision is made.
