Honda Motor is recalling 98,892 vehicles in the United States due to a defect that could cause unintentional air bag deployment, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Friday.
The recall affects certain Honda Acura TLX, Accord Hybrid and 2022 Accord vehicles, according to the auto safety regulator.
NHTSA said the issue is linked to a front passenger seat weight sensor that may crack and short circuit.
Due to the defect, air bags could deploy unintentionally even when occupants such as infants in child seats or children are seated in positions where deployment should normally be suppressed.
As part of the recall remedy, dealers will replace the faulty seat weight sensors free of charge, the regulator said.
Honda has not reported any injuries related to the issue. (NewsWire)
