Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a robbery targeting a taxi driver in the Welikada area after a video of the incident circulated widely on social media.
According to Police, the incident took place on May 29 in Colombo’s Welikada area. The footage, which was shared extensively online, showed an individual allegedly attempting to rob a taxi driver.
Following investigations, officers identified and arrested a suspect believed to be linked to the incident.
Police said two investigation teams have been deployed to conduct further inquiries to arrest other individuals involved in the robbery.
