Six people, including three males and three females, have died after a cab crashed into a crowd gathered at a Vesak dansala near Meegoda Junction, according to Police.
Police said the victims were among a group of individuals who were admitted to hospital following the incident.
The cab had reportedly veered into the crowd gathered near the Vesak dansala, causing multiple casualties and injuries. The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined.
The driver of the cab has been arrested by Police and further investigations are underway.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the deceased, while the number of injured persons receiving treatment is yet to be confirmed.
