Students planning to sit the 2026 General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level Examination (G.C.E. O/L), scheduled to be held in December, have been urged to obtain their National Identity Cards (NICs) before the examination application process begins, as the Department of Examinations moves to make NIC numbers mandatory for all applicants.
The Department of Examinations said candidates applying for examinations conducted by the department will be required to provide their NIC number as part of the application process.
School principals have already been informed to advise eligible students to obtain their NICs without delay to avoid difficulties when applications for the 2026 G.C.E. O/L examination are called.
The department also noted that both school and private candidates intending to sit the examination are responsible for ensuring they have obtained an NIC before submitting their applications. (Newswire)
