Iran launched missiles towards Israel on Sunday, with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) saying it had targeted Israel’s Ramat David Airbase and warning that Israel must halt its attacks in Lebanon.
The Israeli military confirmed that missiles had been fired from Iran towards Israeli territory, while air defence systems were activated in response to the attack.
In a statement, the IRGC said the missile strike was aimed at the Ramat David Airbase and linked the operation to ongoing hostilities between Israel and armed groups in Lebanon.
Responding to the attack, Israeli military spokesperson Effie Defrin described Iran’s action as a “grave mistake”.
Addressing reporters, Defrin said Israel’s military chief was assessing the situation and approving future operational plans.
“The Israel Defense Forces will continue to operate throughout Lebanon. We are prepared for the possibility of additional firing,” he said.(Newswire)
