COPF reviews Treasury’s missing $2.5 million report

The Committee on Public Finance (COPF) convened in Parliament this week (08) to deliberate on the Ministry of Finance’s report regarding the disappearance of US$ 2.5 million held by the Treasury for government debt settlement.

Chaired by MP Harsha de Silva, Finance Secretary Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma, Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, and officials from the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (CERT) joined the discussion.

During the meeting, Central Bank officials informed the committee that they would submit a separate report after reviewing the Finance Ministry’s findings.

COPF Chairman Harsha de Silva stated that once both reports are considered, a final report will be prepared and submitted to Parliament.

The session was also attended by Deputy Ministers Chathuranga Abeysinghe, Kaushalya Ariyarathne, Nishantha Jayaweera, and MPs Ravi Karunanayake, Harshana Rajakaruna, Nimal Palihena, Chithral Fernando, Wijesiri Basnayake, and Lakmali Hemachandra. (Newswire)
