SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa has welcomed the release of 24-year-old Tamil hip hop artist Sangeethsan Ganeskumar, popularly known as Hiphop Sangee, who was recently arrested under Sri Lanka’s Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).
In a post on X, Rajapaksa said he would not comment on the politics surrounding the decision to release the artist.
“I’m not going to comment on the politics behind this decision,” he said. “What matters is that young artist Sangeethsan has been released and reunited with his family. I’m glad to see that happen.”
Rajapaksa further wished the artist well, expressing hope that he would continue to pursue his talent and aspirations in a positive and meaningful way.
The Tamil rapper and singer was arrested and remanded under the PTA over allegations that social media content he shared promoted or glorified the LTTE. (Newswire)
