
Two motorcyclists were killed in separate road accidents reported in Athurugiriya and Matale on Saturday, police said.
In the first incident, a 48-year-old man from Panagoda died after his motorcycle collided with a dog that suddenly crossed the road on the Athurugiriya-Godagama Road in Panagoda.
Police said the rider lost control and fell from the motorcycle. He was admitted to the Homagama Hospital with injuries but later succumbed to his injuries.
In a separate incident in Matale, a 74-year-old motorcyclist from Nalanda was killed after his motorcycle collided with a lorry transporting gas cylinders on the A9 Road.
The rider died at the scene, while a four-year-old child travelling on the motorcycle was admitted to the Matale Hospital for treatment.
Police are conducting further investigations into both accidents. (Newswire)
