Two individuals identified as associates of organised crime and drug trafficking networks, including Modara Chathura—brother of Modara Nipun—and Blomendal Sanka, have been brought back to Sri Lanka.
The suspects arrived in the country on the night of the 13th after being arrested by security authorities in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and subsequently deported.
Reports indicate that the duo had been residing in Abu Dhabi after fleeing Sri Lanka. They were arrested by UAE security forces after allegedly being found in possession of images and videos of drones and missiles used in Iranian attacks during the Middle East conflict on their mobile phones. They were later detained and deported to Sri Lanka.
Upon arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport, the suspects were taken into custody by officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). (NewsWire)
