A Dengue Eradication Week has been declared from today (15) to June 20, as the country faces what officials describe as a serious risk situation from the mosquito‑borne disease.
The nationwide programme will mobilize communities and institutions to clean environments and eliminate breeding grounds.
From June 15 to 17, towns, canal systems, shopping complexes, religious sites, and bus stands are scheduled for intensive cleaning.
On June 18, schools, preschools, private tuition classes, and surrounding premises will be targeted.
The following day, June 19, state and private institutions along with factory premises are to be cleaned.
The campaign will conclude on June 20 with households and residential areas undertaking cleanup operations.
Health officials state that coordinated public participation is essential to reduce the spread of dengue, which has already reached alarming levels this year. (Newswire)
