Construction of the Siyambalanduwa solar power plant has reached 20% completion, Project Director Chamika Perera said.
Speaking to reporters, Perera said there are plans to install 200,000 solar panels using a single‑axis tracking system.
He emphasized that the facility is being built to international standards.
The project, spread across 500 acres in Siyambalanduwa, began in September last year under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
With an investment of Rs. 45 billion, the plant is expected to add 100 MW of capacity to the national electricity grid once completed. (Newswire)
