
Sri Lankan javelin thrower Rumesh Tharanga continued his impressive international season by winning the men’s javelin event at the Ostrava Golden Spike athletics meet in the Czech Republic on Tuesday.
Tharanga secured first place with a best throw of 86.57 metres, finishing ahead of a strong international field.
The victory comes less than two weeks after the Sri Lankan star produced a world-leading throw of 92.62 metres to win the javelin event at the Rome Diamond League, further cementing his status as one of the world’s leading throwers.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2026, consistently producing medal-winning performances on the international circuit.
