Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah have agreed to a ceasefire following days of escalating hostilities, a senior United States official confirmed on Friday (19), according to BBC.
The development follows a series of Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon overnight that killed at least 18 people, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry. The Israeli military also reported that four of its soldiers were killed during the fighting.
Earlier on Friday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had carried out strikes on 80 targets linked to the Iran-backed Hezbollah group, claiming that dozens of its members had been killed.
The ceasefire comes days after the United States and Iran signed an agreement aimed at ending the conflict involving Iran. The deal included a call for military operations to cease across all fronts, including in Lebanon. (Newswire)
