Iran’s central military command has announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all maritime traffic, accusing the United States and Israel of violating a recently signed memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington.
According to Iran’s state-run Mehr News Agency, the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said the move was a response to what it described as repeated breaches of the agreement by both countries. The military command warned that the closure was only a “first step” and indicated that further measures could follow if the alleged violations continue.
Iranian officials have also pointed to ongoing Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon, where foreign media reports said at least 32 people were killed in attacks since dawn, as evidence that the terms of the agreement are not being respected. (Newswire)
