Sri Lanka is ready to further expand its longstanding economic, cultural and historical ties with Thailand through greater collaboration in trade, tourism, technology and sustainable development, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath said.
The Minister made the remarks while addressing the 25th Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka–Thailand Business Council in Colombo on Friday (19) as the chief guest.
Herath commended the council for its contribution over the past 25 years in strengthening bilateral economic relations between Sri Lanka’s private sector and Thailand.
“Reaching a 25-year milestone reflects not only longevity but also the trust and strong relationships built over the years,” he said.
The Minister noted that the council has played a key role in bringing the business communities of both countries closer together and creating new opportunities for economic engagement.
He said growing import and export volumes between Sri Lanka and Thailand demonstrate the progress achieved through continued cooperation.
Looking ahead, Herath highlighted opportunities for further collaboration in trade, tourism, transport and logistics, technology and sustainable development, stressing the importance of maintaining strong partnerships and mutual trust.
“Our friendship, strengthened by religious, cultural and historical ties, is further reinforced today through growing economic cooperation and strong people-to-people connections,” he said.
Herath expressed confidence that the Sri Lanka–Thailand Business Council would continue to open new avenues for cooperation and contribute to deeper bilateral engagement in the years ahead. (Newswire)
