A 32-year-old suspect was arrested in the Iranawila area of Meetiyagoda with more than one kilogram of ‘ICE’ narcotics and 750 grams of heroin during a raid conducted by the Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB).
The raid was carried out on Friday (19) by officers attached to the Homicide and Organised Crime Investigation Division of the CCIB following intelligence-led investigations into a large-scale drug trafficking operation.
Police recovered 1.118 kilos of ‘ICE’ and 750 grams of heroin from the suspect during the operation. The suspect is a resident of the Iranawila area.
The suspect is due to be produced before the Balapitiya Magistrate’s Court today (20), after which investigators are expected to obtain detention orders to facilitate further investigations.
