Four suspects have been remanded until July 3 after being produced before the Avissawella Magistrate’s Court in connection with an incident in Deraniyagala that left four Police officers injured.
According to the Police Media Division, the suspects were arrested over allegations of assaulting Police officers and obstructing their duties during an incident reported to the Deraniyagala Police on June 19. The suspects are also accused of possessing 24,900 milligrams of the drug known as “Ice.”
The four suspects, who were receiving treatment at the Avissawella Hospital following their arrest, were produced before the Avissawella Magistrate’s Court on June 20 and ordered to be remanded until July 3.
Deraniyagala Police are conducting further investigations into the incident. (Newswire)
