Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) will launch at a price of US$79.99, while a premium Ultimate Edition will retail for US$99.99.
According to BBC, the developer has also announced that physical copies of the game will no longer include a game disc. Instead, buyers will receive a code inside the box to digitally download the game.
Rockstar said pre-orders will open at midnight local time on June 25, with players who purchase digital editions able to pre-load the game on November 12 ahead of its launch.
The physical edition will also be available from November 12 to support pre-loading.
The Ultimate Edition will include additional in-game content, including extra vehicles, weapons and character outfits.
Freelance video games journalist Vic Hood described the standard edition’s price as “fairly reasonable” but said the absence of a disc could disappoint physical game collectors.
However, she noted the move benefits Rockstar by reducing the resale of physical copies and helping prevent leaks ahead of release. (Newswire)
