
The Nuwara Eliya Magistrate’s Court today ordered that four suspects, including the main suspect, be remanded until July 9 in connection with the death of a physiotherapist whose body was found inside a motor vehicle in Teldeniya.
Those remanded include the main suspect linked to the murder, his wife, the OIC of the Kundasale Police Training School, and a driver attached to the Kundasale Pradeshiya Sabha.
The suspects were produced before the Magistrate earlier today, following which the order for their remand was issued.
The body of the physiotherapist was discovered inside a car near the Teldeniya Hospital on June 17. Police investigations unveiled CCTV footage showing the main suspect moving the woman’s body from a lodge in Nuwara Eliya, after which it was found inside a car in Teldeniya.
The suspect along with his wife were arrested days later while traveling by bus from Wellawatte to Chavakachcheri on June 23. Following investigations, Sri Lanka Police disclosed that the main suspect was wanted over multiple financial fraud cases across several courts.
Thereafter, the OIC of the Kundasale Police Training School was arrested by the Nuwara Eliya Police on charges of aiding and abetting the main suspect and his wife to evade arrest. (Newswire)
