Sri Lanka’s newly appointed Representative to the State of Palestine, Mohamed Farook Mohamed Fawzer, has presented his Letters of Credence to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the Presidential Palace in Ramallah.
During the ceremony held on June 23, Representative Fawzer conveyed the greetings of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to strengthening longstanding ties with Palestine.
He also reiterated Sri Lanka’s continued support for the rights of the Palestinian people and backed the implementation of a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders, in line with UN General Assembly resolutions.
President Abbas welcomed the new representative, thanked Sri Lanka for its longstanding solidarity, and expressed confidence that bilateral relations would continue to grow during Fawzer’s tenure. (Newswire)
