A 41-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly defrauding a job seeker of Rs. 2 million by promising employment overseas.
The arrest was made by officers of the Horana Special Crime Investigation Unit during an operation in the Alubomulla Police Division on Friday (26), following an investigation into a complaint lodged by the victim.
Police said the suspect, a resident of Panadura, is accused of obtaining the money after claiming she could secure foreign employment for the complainant.
