The Anuradhapura High Court has sentenced a 35-year-old man to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of possessing 3.074 grams of heroin.
The sentence was handed down on Tuesday (30) by the Anuradhapura Provincial High Court following a trial that lasted more than four years.
The convict is a resident of Thalawa in the Kekirawa area.
The court found that the prosecution had proved the charge beyond reasonable doubt before delivering the verdict.
The case stemmed from a raid carried out by officers attached to the Thalawa Police, acting on intelligence received by a Sub-Inspector. (Newswire)
