The owner of a popular Kottu restaurant chain in Sri Lanka has been arrested in connection with the alleged assault of one of his employees.
The Police Media Unit said the suspect was arrested by the Maharagama Police today (30) and is scheduled to be produced before the Homagama Magistrate’s Court.
The arrest follows extensive investigations into CCTV footage showing Wickramanayake verbally abusing and physically assaulting a worker inside one of his outlets.
The footage, which quickly spread across social media, drew widespread public attention and criticism.
Soon after, the Police Department confirmed that the Maharagama Police had launched a special inquiry based on the video evidence.
Police investigations have revealed that the incident occurred on May 5. (Newswire)
