Ameena Ziauddin, Managing Director of Norfolk Foods, has been elected President of the Council for Business with Britain (CBB) of The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce for the 2026–2027 term.

Her appointment was announced at the Council’s 26th Annual General Meeting held at Westminster House in Colombo.

Shiluka Goonewardene, Principal and Head of Deal Advisory at KPMG in Sri Lanka, was elected Senior Vice President, while Fadhil Jiffry, Chief Financial Officer of LSEG, was appointed Vice President. Krystle Reid Wijesuriya, Chief Executive Officer of We Are Team Rocket, was elected Treasurer. Immediate Past President Mark Surgenor, CEO of HSBC Sri Lanka, will continue to serve on the committee.

British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Andrew Patrick, addressing the meeting, highlighted the United Kingdom’s continued support for Sri Lanka’s economic recovery and encouraged local businesses to make greater use of the UK’s Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS), which provides duty-free access for Sri Lankan exports. He said reforms introduced in January 2026 would further enhance opportunities for Sri Lanka’s apparel sector.

In her inaugural address, Ziauddin said she would continue strengthening the Council as a platform for business collaboration and build on initiatives such as the NextGen Committee, which supports young professionals and entrepreneurs. (Newswire)
