Former State Intelligence Service Director Suresh Sallay has suspended his hunger strike launched while in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
It is reported that Sallay had made the decision following advice and representations made by his legal counsel.
Sallay, who was arrested as part of investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday terrorist attacks, had launched a fast while under CID detention.
He was subsequently transferred to the Colombo National Hospital, where he has remained for more than two weeks receiving medical treatment.
The former intelligence chief remains in CID custody as investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks continue. (Newswire)
