Australia has increased visa application fees across most visa categories from 1 July, with some of the largest rises affecting international students, temporary graduates and family migration applicants.
The changes, which coincide with the start of the 2026–27 financial year, include an increase in the student visa application fee to A$2,500, while the Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa fee has risen to A$5,750.
Application charges for partner and parent visas have also increased by up to 20%, alongside higher fees for several skilled migration and permanent residency visa categories.
Migration experts told SBS Punjabi that the higher costs are expected to have the greatest impact on international students and families seeking to settle in Australia, although several migration pathways remain available.
The revised fees form part of Australia’s annual update to visa application charges and come as the country continues to review its migration system amid efforts to balance skilled migration needs, housing pressures and population growth.
Prospective applicants are advised to check the latest visa charges and eligibility requirements before submitting an application. (Newswire)
