Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka has been ruled out of the second and final Test against the West Indies after travelling to London to undergo wrist surgery.
Nissanka’s absence is a major blow for Sri Lanka, with the top-order batter ending his tour early to address a long-standing wrist injury. He had already withdrawn from the 2026 Lanka Premier League (LPL) to prioritise his recovery.
The 27-year-old featured in the first Test but struggled with scores of two and three as Sri Lanka suffered an innings and 217-run defeat.
Sri Lanka have also lost fast bowler Lahiru Kumara, who has been ruled out of the second Test after sustaining a hamstring injury during the opening match.
The injuries leave Sri Lanka without two key players as they attempt to level the two-match series when the second Test begins on Thursday. (Newswire)
