Eastern Province Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (SDIG), Varuna Jayasundara, has appeared before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to record a statement.
He was summoned in connection with allegations that he maintained links with organised crime figure “Kehelbaddara Padme”.
Police sources said the statement was recorded as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged associations between the senior officer and organised criminal networks. (Newswire)
