The Department of Meteorology has issued a heat advisory for six districts, warning that the heat index is likely to reach the “Caution” level in some areas during the daytime.
The advisory covers the districts of Mullaittivu, Vavuniya, Batticaloa, Ampara, Trincomalee and Monaragala.
According to the Department, the heat index, which reflects the temperature felt by the human body, is expected to rise to levels that require caution in parts of these districts.
Residents have been advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight where possible and limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day. (Newswire)
