The Nalanda College Old Boys’ Association (NCOBA) has announced a Rs. 100 million donation from businessman and philanthropist Eng. Nahil Wijesuriya towards Phase II of the Nalanda Centenary Project — the Nalanda Sports Arena.
The association described the contribution by the distinguished Old Trinitian as a landmark milestone for the Nalanda Centenary Project, saying it would support the development of the new sports arena.
Wijesuriya is widely known for his philanthropic support of education in Sri Lanka. Earlier this year, Trinity College announced a Rs. 3 billion donation from him for the institution’s future development. He has also previously contributed to several leading schools, including S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia, Ananda College and Bishop’s College Colombo.
The Nalanda Sports Arena is one of the flagship infrastructure projects being developed as part of Nalanda College’s centenary celebrations. (Newswire)
