Controversial social media influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan Tate have been arrested in Miami, Florida, by the U.S. Marshals Service after British prosecutors announced a series of new criminal charges against them.

Andrew Tate, a former kickboxing world champion turned online personality, rose to global prominence through his social media content promoting a lavish lifestyle and often controversial views on masculinity and women. His brother, Tristan Tate, is also an online influencer and businessman who frequently appears alongside him in their online content.

The arrests were made on a sealed warrant, with British authorities confirming they will seek the brothers’ extradition to the United Kingdom to face the new charges.

The UK’s Crown Prosecution Service said Andrew Tate faces additional charges including rape, human trafficking for sexual exploitation, assault, indecent images of a child and extreme pornography offences. Tristan Tate also faces further charges, including rape, sexual assault and trafficking-related offences. The alleged offences date back to between 2010 and 2017.

The Tate brothers, who hold dual U.S. and British citizenship, have denied all allegations against them. Their lawyer described the latest case as an attempt to undermine their legal efforts and said they intend to contest the charges.

The brothers had previously faced separate legal proceedings in Romania over allegations including human trafficking, which they have also denied. They are expected to appear before a federal court in Miami as extradition proceedings move forward. (Newswire)
