
A few showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today (22).
According to the Department of Meteorology, showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva and Eastern provinces after 2.00 pm.
Mainly dry weather will prevail over the other areas of the island.
Strong winds of about 40-50 kmph can be expected at times over the Northern, North-central provinces and in the Hambantota, Trincomalee districts.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, a few showers may occur in the sea areas off the coast extending from Negombo to Matara via Colombo and Galle.
Winds will be south-westerly. Wind speed will be 30-40 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kalpitiya to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.
