
A few showers will occur in coastal areas of the Western and North-western provinces and the Galle district during the morning today (23).
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Batticaloa, Ampara and Monaragala districts after 2.00 pm.
According to the Department of Meteorology, mainly dry weather will prevail over the other areas of the island.
Fairly strong winds about 30-40 kmph can be expected at times over the Northern and North-central provinces and in the Hambantota and Puttalam districts.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, a few showers may occur in the sea areas off the coast extending from Negombo to Galle via Colombo.
Winds will be south-westerly. Wind speed will be 30-40 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kalpitiya to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.
