The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today (23) informed the court that 969 individuals have been questioned in connection with the Negombo Prison riot, while the aliases of 40 suspects have been identified.
According to state owned newspaper Dinamina, the court formally confirmed that the incident constitutes a crime.
Investigators also submitted 28 post‑mortem reports, with findings revealing that 17 of the victims died from gunshot injuries.
