Kandy Royals batter Vishen Halambage has been ruled out of the remainder of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026 after sustaining a right hamstring injury.

The injury occurred during the match between Kandy Royals and Dambulla Sixers on July 21.

Halambage has since returned to Colombo and will begin a rehabilitation programme as he works towards recovery.

His withdrawal adds to a growing list of injury concerns during this year’s tournament.

Kusal Mendis and Jeffrey Vandersay have already been ruled out of the remainder of the LPL due to injuries.

Meanwhile, Binura Fernando, Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal are also dealing with injury concerns. However, the three players have not been ruled out of the tournament at this stage.

Halambage’s absence will be a further setback for Kandy Royals as the tournament progresses. (Newswire)
