A special clinic to treat dengue patients will be opened at the National Ayurveda Hospital in Borella from Friday, July 31, amid the current spread of dengue in Sri Lanka.
Hospital Director Dr. Parakrama Hemachandra said patients wishing to receive treatment under the Ayurvedic medical system can visit the hospital for treatment through the specialised clinic.
Meanwhile, Consultant Physician Dr. Saminda Ariyaratne warned dengue patients against using home remedies or medicines that have not been prescribed by a qualified Western or Ayurvedic medical practitioner.
He particularly cautioned against remedies such as papaya leaf juice, saying some dengue patients had developed serious conditions and complications after consuming such remedies.
Dr. Ariyaratne also urged the public not to prepare or consume remedies based on messages circulating on social media.
He stressed that dengue patients should only take medicines prescribed by qualified Western or Ayurvedic medical practitioners. (Newswire)
