A 55-year-old restaurant owner who was injured in a shooting in the Bellanwila area on Saturday (25) has died after being admitted to hospital, Police said.
The shooting occurred at around 7.45 p.m. near the entrance to the Bellanwila walking track along the Dehiwala–Boralesgamuwa Road.
According to Police, two individuals who arrived on a motorcycle opened fire at the restaurant owner while he was standing outside his establishment before fleeing the scene.
The victim sustained gunshot injuries and was rushed to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Boralesgamuwa Police, the Mount Lavinia Divisional Crime Investigation Unit and several other investigation teams have launched investigations into the shooting.
Police are working to identify and arrest the suspects involved. (Newswire)
