Kelani Valley rail services, Nawala-Narahenpita road crossing to close this weekend

Train services on the Kelani Valley railway line will be disrupted and the Nawala-Narahenpita Road level crossing will be closed from 7.00 p.m. on Aug. 1 until 8.00 p.m. on Aug. 2 due to urgent repair work, the Department of Railways announced.

During the closure, train services between Colombo Fort and Nugegoda will not operate, while the Nawala-Narahenpita Road railway crossing between Narahenpita and Nugegoda railway stations will be closed to vehicular traffic.

The Department said the following train services will operate during the repair period:

Aug. 1: Trains from Colombo Fort to Avissawella at 4.25 p.m. (9262) and 5.45 p.m. (9264), Colombo Fort to Kosgama at 6.30 p.m. (9269), and Nugegoda to Avissawella at 8.45 p.m. (9271).
Aug. 2: Three morning trains from Avissawella to Nugegoda will depart at 5.00 a.m. (9649), 5.55 a.m. (9641) and 6.25 a.m. (9651). Return services from Nugegoda to Avissawella will depart at 5.30 p.m. (9262), 6.45 p.m. (9264) and 8.30 p.m. (9271).

Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes during the closure, while the Department apologised for the inconvenience caused to commuters and road users. (Newswire)
