
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the implementation of Phase 1 of the Ruwanpura Expressway Project, which includes the construction of the Kahathuduwa Interchange connecting to the Southern Expressway.
The first phase covers the road section from Kahathuduwa to Ingiriya, with the procurement process scheduled to be completed within 2026.
The Road Development Authority will oversee the awarding of contracts once the process is finalized.
According to the government, the project will be financed through domestic funds, with an estimated cost of Rs. 15 billion.
The proposal was presented by the Minister of Transport, Highways, and Urban Development and subsequently endorsed by the Cabinet. (Newswire)
