July alone saw 29,350 new cases, the highest monthly figure so far in 2026, following 21,533 cases in June.
The surge highlights a sharp escalation compared to earlier months, when infections ranged between 5,000 and 8,000.
The Western Province remains the hardest hit, accounting for 44,829 cases, more than half the national total.
Gampaha (17,971) and Colombo (16,814) districts continue to lead the outbreak, while Kandy (5,782) and Kalutara (5,626) also report significant numbers.
Southern Province follows with 17,378 cases, while Sabaragamuwa (9,110) and Central Province (7,136) show rising trends.
Smaller districts such as Kilinochchi (53) and Mullaitivu (43) have reported comparatively fewer cases, but health officials warn that transmission risks remain across the island.
Latest data from the National Dengue Control Unit further identifies 175 high‑risk MOH areas during Week 29, with an average of 2,391 new cases daily.
