A 17-year-old boy was injured in a stabbing incident while flying a kite in a paddy field behind his home in Kadawatha, police said.
According to Kadawatha Police, three youths who arrived on motorcycles allegedly attacked the teenager, leaving him with injuries to his neck. He was admitted to the Ragama Hospital for treatment.
Police have arrested the alleged attacker along with two other youths believed to have been involved in the incident.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the attack was linked to a love affair.
The main suspect was apprehended by residents in a nearby area and handed over to the police, while the other two suspects later surrendered at the Kadawatha Police Station.
Police also said the father of the main suspect is a serving police officer.
The three suspects are due to be produced before the Mahara Magistrate’s Court today (31). (Newswire)
