
Sri Lanka Customs has seized over 10.6 kg of suspected hashish concealed inside metal containers in an air cargo consignment that arrived from Bangkok, Thailand.
The consignment arrived on SriLankan Airlines flight UL405 on July 24, 2026, and had been declared as a gift shipment.
Customs officers examined the cargo at the TRICO UPB Warehouse on July 31 in the presence of an authorized representative. During the inspection, they discovered polythene packets containing suspected narcotic substances hidden inside the metal containers.
A final inventory revealed 10.608 kg (including packaging) of cannabis-related narcotics, including marijuana, hashish, and hashish oil, with an estimated street value of Rs. 106.08 million.
