All government schools in the Nuwara Eliya District will be closed tomorrow (04) due to prevailing adverse weather conditions, the Nuwara Eliya Zonal Education Director said.
Nuwara Eliya Zonal Education Director D.M.S.D. Dissanayake said the Central Province Education Ministry Secretary had instructed that a holiday be declared for all education zones in the district considering the severe weather conditions affecting the area.
Accordingly, schools under the Nuwara Eliya, Hatton, Walapane, Kotmale and Hanguranketha education zones will remain closed tomorrow, he said.
Meanwhile, all private schools in the Nuwara Eliya District will also be closed tomorrow.
Separately, all government schools in the Kandy District will also be closed tomorrow due to the prevailing severe weather conditions.
Authorities said the decision was taken to ensure the safety of students and teachers amid continuous rainfall and sudden weather changes. (Newswire)
