Colombo–Kandy Road reopened after rockfall closure

August 4, 2026 at 9:32 AM

The section of the Colombo–Kandy main road between Ganetenna and Kadugannawa, which was temporarily closed due to a rockfall, has been reopened this morning.

Police said the closure was enforced yesterday following adverse weather conditions that triggered a rockfall in the Pahalah Kadugannawa area.

After conditions improved, the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) advised that the road was safe to reopen.

Accordingly, the road was reopened and traffic resumed at 6:00 am today (04). (Newswire)
